MonitoManika 2012
Welcome to MonitoManika, ManikaManila's Christmas party, dolly style! The event was held in moderator Trisha's house last December 22, 2012. This year's Monito was the biggest one yet, with over 27 members with 59 dolls in attendance! *u*
MonitoManika is a play on the Filipino tradition of exchanging gifts (or kris kringle) called monito-monita. Instead of the humans exchanging gifts, it's the dolls who do the gift-giving with each other. Most people gave small trinkets that could be used as props for the dolls, but there were some who gave away gift certificates that we can use to commission these talented members of the community for free! :D

Lots of dollies on the couch! That's only around half of the total number though! |

What I did during the Apocalypse
For the Mayans, December 21, 2012 is the beginning of the end; for me, it's the beginning of my Christmas vacation. XD With Ryan and Miette in tow, I spent most of the 21st in the salon, having my hair dyed ombré. I took forever in there (4 hours!), but the result is worth it! Looove my hair now! ♥
It was around dinnertime already when I left the salon, so Ryan, Miette and I headed to Hapadog, a restaurant which serves Western-Japanese fusion hotdogs. The food was kinda expensive but they were delicious. *u*
We went window-shopping around the mall after dinner, but we weren't able to buy anything since it was getting late already and there were lots of people EVERYWHERE. Should have anticipated it; it's Christmas rush time after all.
We left at around 8:30pm to avoid the horrible traffic brought on by the Christmas rush, but before that, we passed by this pretty area of the mall and took advantage of all the lights to take some bokeh photos for my texture collection. ^^

These fries were SO YUMMY! |
I ordered Nihon Chiri (chili). It was good! Who knew nori, chili and hotdogs taste great together? |
Miette approves! |
Ryan using his magical posing abilities on Miette. This was taken while we were waiting for the food. |
I have no idea how he managed to make her stand on the corner of the napkin box... ON ONE FOOT. @_@ |
I am still baffled. |

The mall's landscaping and Christmas decor were charming. :3 |

That's it, folks! Thanks for reading. :) |

Get The Look: Hipster Blair Edition (MSD)
It's been aaaaages since I last made a GTL post. Gah! I'm sorry. Please accept my offering of a hipster Blair as an apology?
1. Beanie: thrifted
2. Wig: Model CRWM-70 (Gradation Cream) from Crobidoll, $27
3.Glasses: Shape Steel Lenses for MSD (Black) from Dollmore, $3
4. Fur coat: Ask Fur Hood (Camel) from Dollmore, $27
I was getting bored of Blair's usual cutesy mori girl look, so I raided her box of clothes and put together this ensemble. Didn't think hobo-hipster chic would suit her lol! I love it on her now, despite how different she looks form her usual self. ^^
5. Brown top: BB YOSD Clothes from Endless, $35
6. Grey long-sleeved shirt: Part of the Unoa Thankful set from Foxybrowny, $34 (whole set)
7. Floral leggings: Brown Floral Tights (MSD) from Endless, $6
8. Brown lace-up boots: custom-made locally by kanipan

Dear Li: Mori Girl Clothing Shop
Dear Li is an online clothing shop based in China that sells mori girl clothing and accessories. What I love about this shop is their photography. I think it captures the mori girl lifestyle perfectly, don't you think so?
Below are some of my favorite shots from Dear Li.

Kate MacDowell's Porcelain Sculptures
I chanced upon Kate MacDowell's works while browsing through Tumblr and instantly fell in love. Her porcelain sculptures delicate and elegant, but upon closer inspection, you'll realize they convey darker, more macabre messages.
Kate's works are all symbolic of humanity's often destructive relationship with nature. The artist herself says it best in her own words:

"...the union between man and nature is shown to be one of friction and discomfort with the disturbing implication that we too are vulnerable to being victimized by our destructive practices."

Dolly Diptych Week 26: Kaden
I apologize for the short hiatus! It's almost been two weeks without updates. I got caught in between work and personal stuff and playing Guild Wars 2. Anyway, I should be back to blogging more often now that my Christmas vacation's coming soon! :D
Speaking of vacation, I have a guest vacationing here at home. This is Kaden, my friend Jai's Junior Delf Terra. He's a little reserved and grumpy sometimes, but he's actually really nice. :'3
More photos! Excuse the repetitive shots lol. I'm still trying to get a hang of posing SDs. >w>
JDF Terra is one of my favorite LUTS sculpts which is why I'm so happy Jai let me borrow Kaden for a while. I'm not sure Kaden is as thrilled as I am, but I think he likes Blair and Miette enough to stay. ^^;
